
1 killed in triple shooting at Birmingham party, suspect in custody
Police say three men were fighting at a party when gunfire erupted.
One person is dead and two others are recovering after being shot at a party in Birmingham early Sunday morning.Birmingham police officers were patrolling around 2:40 a.m. in the area around Legion Field when they heard shots being fired.They drove to the 200 block of 8th Avenue West where they saw two men lying in the road who had been shot.One of the officers applied a tourniquet on one of the men until Birmingham Fire and Rescue crews arrived and took both of the victims to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.While attending to that scene, the officers learned that another man had been taken by private vehicle to Princeton Hospital with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.Investigators believe that the men were attending a party at a private event center at that location when a fight broke out inside. The men then began fighting in the street when shots were exchanged.Police believe all three men who were shot were involved in the fight.One of the men is in custody at the hospital.
