Birmingham police are on the scene of a fatal shooting on the city’s westside.
The shooting happened at about 4:35 p.m. Monday at 1505 52nd Street Ensley in the Central Park neighborhood.
One person is dead on the front yard of a house and another victim is at a hospital with life threatening injuries.
A large crowd has gathered at the scene, which is just a block off Bessemer Road in a neighborhood near the Central Park Chevron.
The victim is Birmingham’s 12th homicide so far in 2025.
This weekend, there were three homicides in just under 24 hours.
Willie Robert Morgan, 55, of Birmingham, was shot to death on an Interstate 59 off-ramp following a dispute over a fender bend just before 2 p.m. Saturday.
A 22-year-old man was shot to death about midnight in Ensley, and an 18-year-old Birmingham City Schools student was killed about 20 minutes later on Saturday in north Birmingham.
In all of Jefferson County this year, there have been 17 homicides, including the 12 in Birmingham.
