10th horse death confirmed at Churchill Downs since April

NEW TONIGHT, ANOTHER HORSE HAS BEEN EUTHANIZED AT CHURCHILL DOWNS AFTER SUFFERING A LEG INJURY. THAT’S ACCORDING TO CHURCHILL DOWNS SPOKESPERSON DARREN RODGERS EARLIER TODAY, RIO MOON BROKE ITS LEG AT THE FINISH LINE IN THE SIXTH RACE OF THE DAY. THE HORSE WAS A THREE YEAR OLD COLT TRAINED BY DALE ROMANS OF LOUISVILLE. SEVEN HORSES HAVE DIED OVER TEN DAYS DURING THE SPRING MEET AT CHURCHILL DOWNS. Before Swanson Lake's death, eight other horses died at Churchill Downs during the course of the month.

According to spokesperson Darren Rodgers, Lost in Limbo suffered a significant injury to his left front leg near the finish of Friday's seventh race.
