QUICK ACTION. IT WAS AT THE TIDAL POOL AT SEBASTIAN INLET STATE PARK AT ABOUT 5:45 P.M. WHEN AN AFTERNOON WAS ROLLING THROUGH A LIGHTNING. A YOUNG GIRL HIT LAW ENFORCEMENT RADIO TRAFFIC. THEY HAD RECEIVED MULTIPLE CALLS, THE INCIDENT AND THEN THE ELEVATOR AT THE BOTTOM AND LADDER. A FEMALE IN PROGRESS BY LIGHTNING. ONE OF THE CALLERS. AND THEN A FEW MINUTES BY FIRST RESPONDERS LIGHTNING STRIKE PEOPLE RUNNING ON MOMENTARILY. CODE 99 MEANS MEDICAL EMERGENCY NEEDED. BREVARD COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE TELLING US IN THE LAST THAT THEY GOT THE YOUNG GIRL IS STABLE. AND THEN WE SAW IT STARTED. THEN WE SAW A REALLY BIG STRIKE, A AND WE SAW THE STORM MOVING CLOSER. SO WE GOT OUT AND LEFT AND PRETTY MUCH MOST PEOPLE DID. TIFFANY FRANCESCO WAS AT THE TIDAL POOL ON MONDAY WITH, HER CHILDREN ON THE INJURED GIRL. OH, HEARTBREAKING AND SCARY. 11-year-old girl hospitalized after being struck by lightning at Central Florida inlet
An 11-year-old girl is now stable after being hit by lightning on Monday at Sebastian Inlet State Park in southern Brevard County.It was at the park’s tidal pool at about 5:45 p.m. when a thunderstorm rolled through, then lightning struck, and a young girl was hit.Law enforcement received multiple calls on the incident.“It’s going to be near the beach at Sebastien Inlet. Eleven-year-old female. CPR in progress. Possible struck by lightning per one of the callers,” a dispatcher said.And then, a few minutes later, a first responder confirmed that the girl was struck by lightning.“Still code 99. Will be leaving momentarily,” the responder said. Code 99 means a medical emergency, and resuscitation is needed. Brevard County Sheriff's Office told WESH 2 that the young girl was stable in the last report they received.Tiffany Francesco was at the tidal pool on Monday with her children. She was back again on Tuesday. “Then we saw a really big strike of lightning, and we saw the storm moving closer, so we got out and left. And pretty much most people did,” she said. “That’s heartbreaking and scary. I’m so glad we left when we did, and I’m sorry to hear that. I hope she gets well soon.
