2 injured in Fultondale shootout after car theft and chase

Two men are recovering from gunshot wounds after a chase and shootout involving a stolen car early Sunday morning. Fultondale police say a man left his Ford Mustang running in an apartment complex around 1 a.m. while he was visiting his friend.Deep dive: WVTM 13 InvestigatesThen he heard the engine revving and went outside to check on it. That's when he saw someone steal his car and drive away.He and a friend got into another vehicle and began following the Mustang.Police said the cars drove about a mile and a half to Carson Road, where there was an exchange of gunfire. Both the man whose car was stolen and his friend were hit by gunfire. They drove to a Shell station and called the police.
