THIS WEEK. THIS IS WVTM 13, BREAKING NEWS IS HAPPENING RIGHT NOW AND THAT BREAKING NEWS FOR YOU RIGHT NOW. AT TEN, A MAN IS DEAD AFTER DROWNING IN THE CAHABA RIVER THIS EVENING. NOW, WITHIN THE LAST 30 MINUTES, WE’VE LEARNED A 25 YEAR OLD MAN’S BODY WAS PULLED FROM THAT RIVER. CREWS SPENT NEARLY TWO HOURS SEARCHING A PORTION OF THE RIVER BY GRANT MILLS ROAD NEAR IRONDALE. HERE’S VIDEO FROM THE SCENE. THE IRONDALE FIRE CHIEF SAYS THE MAN WHO DIED WAS SPENDING TIME AT THE EDGE OF THE RIVER WHEN HE GOT SEPARATE FROM THE PERSON HE WAS WITH SEVERAL ORGANIZATIONS JOINED IN AND BEGAN THE SEARCH AT AROUND SEVEN THIS EVENING. BUT AGAIN, SADLY, THE MAN’S BODY WAS PULLED FROM THE WATER ABOUT AN HOUR AFTER HE WAS FIRST REPORT

Authorities say a 25-year-old man drowned on the Cahaba River on Sunday evening. Investigators say the victim became separated from the person he was with and could not swim on his own. Irondale Fire Department and Cahaba Valley Fire and EMR were on the scene, using drones to assist with the search. The victim's name has not been released.

Authorities say a 25-year-old man drowned on the Cahaba River on Sunday evening.

Investigators say the victim became separated from the person he was with and could not swim on his own.
