3 building permits issued for new Coca-Cola facility in Birmingham

Ten new building permits were issued this past week statewide for construction projects exceeding $1 million, and all of them are for projects in the Birmingham metro.

Three of these permits are for the new Coca-Cola Bottling facility in the Kingston neighborhood of Birmingham. Here’s more info:

New Coca-Cola facility in Birmingham

Three of this week’s new building permits are for a project by Coca-Cola Bottling United, part of a $330 million project involving a brand-new facility in Birmingham’s Kingston community. The planned site sits at 1101 40th Street North just off I-20/59, less than three miles from Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport.

The three permits this week total just under $7 million.

Once complete, the facility will house Coca-Cola UNITED’s:

Corporate, Central Region and North Alabama Division headquarters
Birmingham Coca-Cola sales center and warehouse
Classic Food and Vending arm
Customer solutions center and services department

Brasfield & Gorrie is listed as the lead contractor for this project.
