A pizza delivery driver was shot and killed during a robbery New Year's night while making a delivery in the Roebuck area.At about 9 p.m. police got a call about shots fired in the 400 block of Roebuck Drive. Then a second caller reported that someone had been shot.When officers arrived, they found the man lying unresponsive beside his car in a driveway.He was identified as Derek Marcus Burpo, 51, of Birmingham.He had worked for the Roebuck Domino's Pizza store for about two years, franchisee Chris Dougherty said. "In two years, I don't think he's ever called in or been late a single time. You know, he was just, he was immaculate," Dougherty said. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Birmingham Fire and Rescue.There is no one in custody.Police are using technology resources to track down the killer.They are asking for the public to help continue the crime-solving momentum it created at the end of 2024."Where people were calling in tips and coming forward with information.
