Background on the charges
Jefferson County Judge David Carpenter revoked probation for Damien McDaniel, who is accused of murdering 11 people in Birmingham this year.
McDaniel had been serving three years probation for two 2019 attempted murder cases, where he pleaded guilty to firing a gun into an occupied vehicle.
During Thursday's hearing, Birmingham Homicide Detective Ronald Davenport testified about McDaniel's arrest on October 8 at 704 Robin Road.
He told the judge how they found bags of packaged marijuana along with two weapons inside the home.
The guns included a Glock 19C pistol equipped with a machine gun conversion device, commonly known as a Glock Switch, with a 100-round drum clip.
They also recovered Romarm Cugir Mini-Draco pistol with multiple Glock magazines and a loaded AR-15 60-round magazine.
Nine days after his probation revocation arrest, Birmingham police announced McDaniel was being charged with killing Diontronet Brown on September 19 and Tahj Booker, Carlos McCain, Anitra Holloman and Roderick Patterson in Five Points South two days later, along with Jamarcus McIntyre the following day.
About a month later, McDaniel was also accused of killing Markeshia Gettings, Stevie McGhee, Angela Weatherspoon and Lerandus Anderson at the Trendsetter event venue on July 13 and Charlie Brown exactly a month later in his apartment.
In all, McDaniel has been accused of shooting at a total of 40 people in 2024, including the 11 murder victims.
The 15-year sentence imposed by Judge Carpenter, stemming from the probation violation stemming from the 2019 attempted murder cases, goes into effect immediately.
