As leaves change colors and temps continue to drop (fingers crossed), you’ll want some yummy, local eats to keep you warm. Lucky for you, we’ve got just the thing. Keep reading for seven delicious soups at Birmingham restaurants to try.

1. Chicken and rice soup | El Barrio

I could talk about this chicken and rice soup—or anything at El Barrio—for hours. I tried it for the first time earlier this month and came back for more just two days later.

Pop in to try it for yourself; add a side of their cornbread and thank me later.

Psst, El Barrio also has their seasonal Pozole on the menu right now. If it’s anywhere near the deliciousness of the chicken and rice soup, you can count me in.

2. Mushroom soup | Brick & Tin

Brick & Tin’s mushroom soup has been raved about by our team, and rightfully so. It’s creamy, flavorful and just the thing to get you into the fall spirit.

Don’t just take our word for it, though. Stop by one of the two locations around town and try it.

3. Spicy coconut soup | Surin

Surin has been serving authentic Thai cuisine since 1990, and the exceptional food and quality customer service proves it.

They have plenty of locations across Birmingham and the southeast, so go ahead and plan your trip.

4. Beef fat candle stew | OvenBird

It’s no wonder that this beef fat candle stew is OvenBird’s most-requested signature dish. Featuring a flaming candle that melts to blend with seasoned pan juices, this stew is the perfect thing to keep you warm this fall. Plus, it’s paired with Hinkel’s Bakery bread for dipping.

5. Daily rotating soup | The Garage

Here at Bham Now, we love The Garage. They have a daily rotating soup, perfect for any fall day. We popped by and were pleasantly surprised by their creamy and delicious tomato soup—guess we’ll have to keep coming back to try the others.

6. Seasonal homemade soup | Otey’s Tavern

Otey’s Tavern has been a Birmingham staple since 1989 and is one of my personal faves in town for a great meal and even better vibes.

If you’re looking to have some delicious homemade soup and catch a game this fall season, Otey’s has your back.

7. Crushed lentil soup | Makarios Kabobs and Grill

If Mediterranean is more your style, then Makarios’ crushed lentil soup is your new go-to this fall season. I’ve been coming here for years and every time I go, I make sure to never miss out on this delicious, cozy soup.
