Alabama left out of College Football Playoff, heading to ReliaQuest Bowl

Despite coming in at No. 11 in Tuesday night's rankings, the Crimson Tide just couldn't clench a spot in the College Football Playoff in a bitter end to an up-and-down debut season for head coach Kalen DeBoer that saw some truly crushing losses on the road (40-35 at Vanderbilt & 24-3 at Oklahoma)Both DeBoer and Athletic Director Greg Byrne made solid pitches for the Tide's inclusion but during Sunday's Selection Show, the CFP Committee laid out the final rankings for the 12-team playoff, leaving Alabama off the list.While out of the playoff, the Tide will play in a bowl game. Alabama is set to face Michigan in the ReliaQuest Bowl in Tampa, FL on New Year's Eve. This game a rematch of last year's Rose Bowl.
