Category 4 Hurricane Helene hit Florida's coast Thursday night with 140 mph winds. It will set up a breezy, occasionally wet Friday for most of North and Central Alabama. Check the video forecast for the latest. WEEKEND WEATHERAn upper-level low will steer Helene north of Alabama this weekend, shifting most of the heavier rain to Tennessee. However, a few light showers will linger across Alabama Saturday and Sunday. Saturday morning starts in the 60s. Under a mainly cloudy sky, afternoon highs hold in the middle and upper 70s. There will be a few passing showers around, but nothing particularly widespread or heavy.Birmingham will host Fiesta Birmingham this Saturday. Alabama hosts Georgia on Saturday night while Oklahoma visits Auburn, and UAB takes on Navy at home. Sunday will also start in the 60s, but we get a few more breaks in the clouds. Temperatures Sunday afternoon end up in the low 80s in most communities. This will feel very comfortable.DRIER NEXT WEEKNext week will start with only a very isolated chance of showers, thanks to the leftover moisture from Helene. Most locations are dry with highs in the middle 80s. A cold front pushes into Alabama midweek, bringing much drier air to the state. IN THE TROPICSThe National Hurricane Center is monitoring Hurricane Isaac, Tropical Storm Joyce, and two other regions.Neither Isaac or Joyce pose any threat to land. The area we will be monitoring is region highlighted in the Caribbean. The NHC is giving this area a low chance of formation over the next seven days, but that chance may go up in the coming days.
