Argo man killed in shooting, ex-wife charged
The victim has been identified as 62-year-old Benjamin Craig Sharpton
A man who was shot and killed in Argo last week has been identifiedAt 10:35 a.m. on Aug. 11, Jefferson County deputies were called to the 8800 block of Gadsden Highway to assist Argo Police Department after a domestic-related shooting.Witnesses told investigators that Benjamin Craig Sharpton, 62, had been shot by his ex-wife, Grace Dunaway Yancey, 58. Yancey was taken into custody and taken to the Jefferson County Jail, where she is being held on the charge of intentional murder. A man who was shot and killed in Argo last week has been identified
At 10:35 a.m. on Aug. 11, Jefferson County deputies were called to the 8800 block of Gadsden Highway to assist Argo Police Department after a domestic-related shooting.
Witnesses told investigators that Benjamin Craig Sharpton, 62, had been shot by his ex-wife, Grace Dunaway Yancey, 58.
Yancey was taken into custody and taken to the Jefferson County Jail, where she is being held on the charge of intentional murder. Under the guidelines of "Aniah's Law," she is being held with no bond.
The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office is investigating the shooting.
