The ashes of a longtime radar scientist and researcher were dropped into the eye of Hurricane Milton on Tuesday night by meteorologists with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

Peter Dodge spent 44 years specializing in radar meteorology and tropical cyclones, according to FirstCoastNews.

Dodge died in March 2023.

Milton is expected to make landfall on Florida's west coast as a major hurricane on Wednesday night.
