At least four people injured in 10-vehicle crash on I-459 near Hoover

A major traffic incident near Hoover caused long delays for many driving Tuesday afternoon.The Rocky Ridge Fire Department reported it all happened on Interstate 459 at mile marker 16 near Hoover.The RRFD said an 18-wheeler truck collided with some vehicles in the southbound lanes about 3 p.m., which then rolled and crossed the median and crashed nearly head-on with another 18-wheeler truck.One of the truck drivers was trapped in the wreckage, and was rescued by first responders.The RRFD reported at least 4 people injured and none seemed to have life-threatening injuries.A gas tank ruptured at the scene, caused a small diesel fuel spill, according to the fire department.All lanes in both north and southbound directions was closed for an least an hour, and as of 5:30 p.m., two southbound lanes reopened.Roadways in the area were clogged with travelers trying to get around the wreck location.Follow: Interactive traffic map
