Four dead, multiple injured after gunman opens fire at a Tallapoosa County birthday party

ENDING TO A SWEET 16 BIRTHDAY PARTY IN DADEVILLE SATURDAY NIGHT. WE DON’T HEAR ABOUT THIS DAY OF ALABAMA LIKE WE SEE IT ON TV, BUT NOT CLOSE TO HOME. THE ALABAMA LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCY SAYS FOUR PEOPLE ARE DEAD AND MULTIPLE ARE INJURED. TWYLA RUSSELL KNOWS SOME OF THE VICTIMS. I CAN GROSS THIS LIKE TWO OF THEM HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS LIVES THIS ROUTE FROM KENYON COOPER SAYS HE WAS DEEJAYING THE PARTY. HE TOLD US IT WAS DARK INSIDE WHEN IT ALL UNFOLDED. THEY MISSING SOMEONE HAD A GUN AND THEY STOPPED THE PARTY FOR A SECOND. WHO ASKED THEM TO LEAVE? NOBODY LEFT IN A PARTY, CONTINUED HE SAYS. ABOUT AN HOUR LATER IS WHEN THE SHOOTING OCCURRED. JUST AFTER 1030 IS WHEN 911 WAS CALLED. I HAD A LOT OF PEOPLE UP ON THE TABLE AND BESIDE ME TRYING TO TAKE THEM TO THE SHOTS WAS BEHIND ME. AND AFTER EVERYBODY RAN OUT, I MADE SURE THEY WERE OKAY. IT WAS PROBABLY ABOUT FOUR OR FIVE SHOOTERS THAT I HEARD, BUT IT WAS DARK, SO YOU CAN’T REALLY PINPOINT ANYTHING. COOPER NOW LEFT WITH LITTLE WORDS TO DESCRIBE HOW HE FEELS REALLY JUST A START FOR THE KIDS. I’VE SEEN A LOT OF IT’S BEEN IN THE MILITARY. THE MAYOR OF DADEVILLE HAS BEEN ON SCENE FOR SEVERAL HOURS TO OFFER SUPPORT TO LAW ENFORCEMENT. HE SAYS HE FEELS NUMB. YES, I HEARD AND FEELING FOR THE FAMILIES AND THE YOUNG PEOPLE. UPDATE, 5:00 p.m.Investigators say the number killed remains four people but for the first time since the shooting revealed that 28 others were injured.
