Bessemer man sentenced to over 5 years for illegal possession of a firearm

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) -- A Bessemer man was sentenced to over five years in prison on gun charges.

Curtoine Jackson, 35, was sentenced to 64 months in prison for illegal possession of a firearm. He previously pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm. Jackson was found in possession of a pistol on Dec. 30, 2023. He's prohibited from having a firearm because of previous felony convictions.

Jackson was convicted on March 15, 2012, on first-degree robbery and first-degree burglary charges in the Circuit Court of the Bessemer Division of Jefferson County. He was convicted in the same court on Dec. 4, 2017, for unlawful possession of a controlled substance.
