Birmingham Barons sold to new ownership group
As the season winds down for the Birmingham Barons, the Double-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, the team announced it has a new owner.In a release sent Monday, the team stated it has been bought by Diamond Baseball Holdings from Don, Jeff, and Stan Logan. The team will continue its affiliation with the Chicago White Sox. "Since first joining the club in 1993, I’ve seen its incredible history continue and extend into what we all know and love today," Jonathan Nelson, the general manager and president of the Birmingham Barons, said in a statement. "The Logan family has been central to creating today’s Barons experience and helping to drive the evolution of our city. We will always appreciate their impact. The Logans have selected new owners who truly understand what the Barons mean to Birmingham, and we could not be more excited to continue under DBH’s leadership.” According to the website for the Birmingham Barons, the team's history in the Magic City dates back to 1885.The team has played at Rickwood Field, the Hoover Met, and, since 2013, they have played at Region Field.The minor league team finishes up the 2023 season on the road this week against Chattanooga.Stay updated on the latest sports updates with the WVTM 13 app. You can download it here.
