Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex celebrates 50 years
People gathered in Birmingham to celebrate the 50th anniversary of one of Birmingham's largest entertainment complexes.The Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex invited everyone Oct. 12, to celebrate 50 years in the Magic City.The celebration was held in the plaza, and featured free food, games, face painting and more.The Birmingham Children's Theatre offered free tickets to the first 10 families who visited.“This celebration is not just a commemoration of the past but a heartfelt thank you to the generations who have supported us throughout the years,” said Tad Snider, CEO of the BJCC. “We invite everyone to join us as we honor our shared history and look forward to many more years of bringing outstanding entertainment to Birmingham.”The BJCC Concert Hall and Theatre officially opened its doors Oct. 3, 1974, and has hosted many artists, performances and events.The latest: Entertainment coverage from WVTM 13
