
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) -- An 18-year-old has been arrested in connection to a shooting that killed a 22-year-old in Birmingham earlier this month, according to the Birmingham Police Department.
On Wednesday, Feb. 5, Demarious Antwon Cherry was shot in the 4600 block of Roscoe Avenue. The Jefferson County Coroner's Office said Cherry was pronounced dead at the scene of the shooting at around 10 p.m.
Detectives with the BPD presented case information to the Jefferson County District Attorney's Office and obtained a warrant for murder for Remeon Lewis, 18, or Birmingham.
The BPD Special Enforcement Division's Crime Reduction Team took Lewis into custody in the 900 block of 46th Street North on Friday at around 1 p.m.
The suspect will be transported to the Jefferson County Jail with no bond.
