A Birmingham police officer was injured during a vehicle pursuit Thursday.Just after 2 p.m. on Aug. 10, police say they were alerted to a person who returned to a business after being suspected of stealing items earlier at a location in the 3400 block of Fourth Avenue South.Once police arrived, the suspect took off in a vehicle and officers chased for about 15 minutes until the suspect crashed into a police patrol car and ended in the 6800 block of Second Avenue South.Officers took the suspect into custody and the officer did not appear to have serious injuries but was taken to a hospital for evaluation.The suspect was also sent to a hospital.The scene was still being cleared up at about 4:15 p.m.Stay up-to-date: The latest headlines and weather from WVTM 13 This is a developing story and will be updated as information becomes available.
