Birmingham police are investigating a body found on the campus of Jefferson State Community College Thursday morning. After 9 a.m., Birmingham police were called out to the 3000 block of Jefferson State Parkway. A person gathering cans discovered the badly decomposed body on the edge of the parking lot by the recreation center, according to police.The coroner did a preliminary investigation at the scene and determined the death to be a homicide. The body will undergo an autopsy to determine the cause of death, age and sex of the victim. This is a developing story and will be updated as information becomes available.
