Officials are working to determine whether remains found in a Birmingham neighborhood are human.Officers responded to a residence in the 1300 block of Fifth Place Northwest Thursday morning and took possession of a bone, according to the Birmingham Police Department.Back in August, a homeowner in the same block discovered a skull in the roadway next to his home.It's believed that the man's dog moved it there, but its original location is not known. A search of the area did not reveal any other remains.The coroner's office performed an autopsy, which showed the person had been shot.
