Brother of youngest Boston Marathon bombing victim finishes emotional run
Henry Richard, the older brother of Boston Marathon bombing victim Martin Richard, completed his second consecutive Boston Marathon on Monday. He finished the 26.2-mile course in 4:40:45. Now 20, Henry Richard was just 10 years old when his little brother was killed in the 2013 Marathon bombing.Last year, Henry laced up and ran in his brother's honor, pausing at the memorial on Boylston Street before pushing through to cross the finish line. This year, he led a group of Team MR8 runners, which included some of Martin's former classmates who are now old enough to run the Boston Marathon."I'm feeling great. It was a great finish." Richard said. "I'm glad that a big group of the team was able to finish together. It was a blast out there."Henry trained in New York, where he's now in college.Other members of Team MR8 this year included childhood friends of Martin's, Jack Burke and Jessie DeLouis. His second-grade teacher, Rachel Moo, also ran.After raising millions of dollars to carry on Martin Richard's legacy, 2020 was supposed to be the final marathon season for Team MR8. They decided to field a team this year, for one more marathon, in his honor."It's an emotional day. Definitely was thinking about that for most of the race," Richard said. "But we put together a fantastic team this year, people who mean so much to me, so much to my family. I'm incredibly proud of them."
