A central Alabama woman has been convicted of murder in the shooting death of her boyfriend nearly seven years ago.

Shantel Jalisa Boone, 34, of Greenville, was found guilty May 19 by a Butler County jury in the death of Charles Edward Curry, 31, court records showed.

Greenville police officers responded to a shooting call on Linda Avenue at about 8:45 p.m. on March 11, 2016.

At the scene, officers found Curry with a gunshot wound to the head. He was taken to LV Stabler Memorial Hospital and then was airlifted to UAB Hospital in critical condition, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Butler County Circuit Court Judge Cleveland Poole scheduled Boone’s sentencing for July 6.
