The City of New Orleans has announced that the Earhart Boulevard Food Truck Plaza is 95 percent complete and will open in time for Super Bowl LIX.

New Orleans is set to host Super Bowl LIX on Feb. 9, 2025, at the Caesars Superdome.

Located on Earhart Boulevard near Magnolia Street and South Claiborne Avenue, the plaza will feature eight food truck vendors on a main thoroughfare entry point into the Central Business District.

The $2.1 million project, funded by City of New Orleans bonds, supports small and ethnically diverse businesses, while also aiming to improve the infrastructure in the area.

The project is designed by Pivotal Engineering LLC, and constructed by TEH Enterprise LLC.

“My administration is in lockstep with the community’s needs and saw an opportunity to make this intersection more functional and aesthetically pleasing for food truck vendors,” New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell said in a news release. “Our food truck proprietors have made this location special to the City of New Orleans by setting up their trucks despite previous conditions, and I am excited about what this project will do for our small businesses and our city as a whole.”

In addition to food truck vendors, limited public parking and bicycle parking will be available under the overpass. ADA compliant sidewalk ramps will be installed at Earhart and South Claiborne Avenues. The Earhart Food Truck Plaza will be open to the public and will include pedestrian benches and seating areas, waste receptacles, and landscaping. The site will also feature mural paintings on the underpass support columns, provided by the Arts Council, and support tailgating activities for events at the Caesars Superdome and the Smoothie King Center.
