Harmony Street is a quiet, tree-lined non-thruway in the heart of the Garden District between Prytania Street and St. Charles Avenue. Composed of older luxury New Orleans homes, the street has had very little turnover of residents throughout the years. How few?

An 1890 house at 1524 Harmony St. will have just its fourth set of owners in nearly 135 years after the Garden District home was sold for $1,925,000 on Dec. 6. The home features 5 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms, and 4,544 square feet of living space. The listing agent was Letty Rosenfeld, of Latter & Blum | Compass. The sales agent was Ramsey Marcello, of NOLA Homes Co. LLC.

“Harmony is a beautiful block of nice trees, gorgeous homes, and in a historic Garden District area that is quiet and reserved, yet also convenient to downtown New Orleans,” said Rosenfeld. “The sellers at 1524 Harmony were just the third owners in the home’s history, and over the 20 years that they owned the property, they expanded it, built a pool, and the large lot, along with the beautiful home and architectural details, were big selling points to the new buyers.”

Years ago, the sellers bought the adjacent property next to 1524 Harmony, removed the house on the lot, and built a fenced-in, landscaped pool with a huge side yard.

“The buyers are moving from another home in the Garden District area, and they are excited about all the pool and back yard space that this property has to offer,” said Rosenfeld. “The home is stunning. It has high ceilings, beautiful pine wood floors, a renovated kitchen with new appliances and an island with seating, and the third-floor attic was transformed into an extra room with cathedral-style ceilings and windows with views of downtown New Orleans.”

The home begins with an impressive foyer and stairway, 12-foot ceilings, and formal living and dining rooms with fireplaces and floor-to-ceiling windows looking out onto a wraparound porch. The den has a large window overlooking the saltwater, heated pool and the yard. The den opens to the kitchen, which features stainless steel appliances, including a six burner Wolf commercial range/oven with two ovens and a hood, and an extra-large, built-in refrigerator/freezer, built-in drawer microwave, dishwasher, and disposal. The kitchen also has granite counter tops, pine floors, an island for food preparation and eating, and a built-in plate rack and wine rack.

The second floor has four large bedrooms and three bathrooms. The primary suite has a private bath and a wall of closets, plus a large walk-in closet. The house has a whole-house generator that also runs the pool. It also has three air-conditioning/heating systems, one on each floor.
