Probation revoked for suspect accused in Birmingham mass shooting, 11 total murders
COMING UP. JORDAN. THANKS. PROBATION REVOKED FOR A MAN CHARGED IN THE DEADLY FIVE POINTS SOUTH SHOOTING. THIS IS FOR A CASE UNRELATED TO THAT SHOOTING. YEAH. NOW, DAMIEN MCDANIEL WAS ON PROBATION FOR A 2019 ATTEMPTED MURDER CASE WHEN FIVE PEOPLE WERE GUNNED DOWN OUTSIDE OF THE FORMER HUSH LOUNGE. THERE IN FIVE POINTS SOUTH WVTM 13. JON PAEPCKE WAS THE ONLY TV REPORTER IN THE COURTROOM TODAY, AND HE JOINS US LIVE FROM FIVE POINTS SOUTH. SO, JOHN, WHAT DID DETECTIVES REVEAL ABOUT MCDANIEL’S ARREST IN COURT TODAY? WELL, THAT ACTUALLY IT HAPPENED ABOUT NINE DAYS BEFORE HE WAS CHARGED IN THE FIVE POINT SOUTH MASS SHOOTING HERE. AND THAT THE GUN THAT THEY FOUND ON HIM DURING THAT ARREST WAS THE SAME KIND OF WEAPON THAT THEY SAID WAS USED TO GUN DOWN 20 PEOPLE ON THIS SIDEWALK, INCLUDING FOUR FATALLY. THIS MORNING, DAMIEN MCDANIEL RETURNED TO THE BESSEMER COURTROOM, WHERE HE WAS SENTENCED IN A 2019 ATTEMPTED MURDER CASE. HE HAD AN ALTERCATION WITH TWO OTHER GENTLEMEN IN A VEHICLE. SEEMS TO BE OVER A FEMALE, WHERE SHOTS WERE FIRED INTO THE VEHICLE. NO ONE WAS HURT, AND AS PART OF A PLEA DEAL, JUDGE DAVID CARPENTER SENTENCED HIM TO 15 YEARS WITH ONLY TWO OF THOSE TO SERVE BEHIND BARS. PLUS PROBATION. FAST FORWARD TO SEPTEMBER 21ST OF THIS YEAR. 20 PEOPLE WERE SHOT OUTSIDE THE FORMER HUSH LOUNGE WHILE INVESTIGATING THAT MASS SHOOTING. PROSECUTORS CLAIM MCDANIEL BECAME VERY ACTIVE ON SOCIAL MEDIA, SO HE WAS NOTICED, I BELIEVE, WITH WEAPONS ON SOCIAL MEDIA. AND SO IT’S REPORTED TO THE PROBATION OFFICER AT THAT TIME. SO A PROBATION REVOCATION ARREST WARRANT WAS ISSUED. AND TODAY, MCDANIEL WAS BACK IN. JUDGE DAVID CARPENTER’S COURT BIRMINGHAM HOMICIDE DETECTIVE TESTIFIED ABOUT WEAPONS FOUND IN HIS ROOM DURING HIS OCTOBER 8TH ARREST. A GLOCK MODEL 19 C NINE MILLIMETER, GENERATION FOUR PISTOL WITH A MACHINE GUN CONVERSION DEVICE ON IT WITH A 100 ROUND DRUM MAG THAT LOOKS LIKE THIS, PLUS A MINI DRACO PISTOL. LIKE THIS. NINE DAYS AFTER HE WAS ARRESTED FOR THE PROBATION VIOLATION, HE WAS CHARGED IN THE FIVE POINT SOUTH SHOOTING. PROSECUTOR CINDY CARTER FEELS THE ATTEMPTED MURDER PLEA SHE SECURED AGAINST MCDANIEL HELPED CRACK THE SEPTEMBER MASS SHOOTING. I’M GLAD THAT WE WERE ABLE TO USE THIS CONVICTION THAT WE GOT TO KEEP HIM ON THE RADAR TO TO, YOU KNOW, BE ABLE TO HOLD HIM ACCOUNTABLE FOR WHAT HE HAS DONE. NOW, AT THE END OF TODAY’S HEARING, JUDGE CARPENTER REVOKED MCDANIEL’S PROBATION. WELL, ON TOP OF BEING ACCUSED OF KILLING FOUR PEOPLE AND INJURING 16 OTHERS ON THIS SIDEWALK BACK ON SEPTEMBER 21ST, MCDANIEL WAS ALSO CHARGED WITH KILLING SEVEN OTHER PEOPLE IN BIRMINGHAM THIS YEAR. THAT NUMBER INCLUDES FOUR THAT WERE GUNNED DOWN AT THE TRENDSETTER EVENT VENUE ON AT A BIRTHDAY PARTY BACK IN JULY. LI

Jefferson County Judge David Carpenter revoked probation for Damien McDaniel, who is accused of murdering 11 people in Birmingham this year.McDaniel had been serving three years probation for two 2019 attempted murder cases, where he pleaded guilty to firing a gun into an occupied vehicle. During Thursday's hearing, Birmingham Homicide Detective Ronald Davenport testified about McDaniel's arrest on October 8 at 704 Robin Road.He told the judge how they found bags of packaged marijuana along with two weapons inside the home.The guns included a Glock 19C pistol equipped with a machine gun conversion device, commonly known as a Glock Switch, with a 100-round drum clip.They also recovered Romarm Cugir Mini-Draco pistol with multiple Glock magazines and a loaded AR-15 60-round magazine.Nine days after his probation revocation arrest, Birmingham police announced McDaniel was being charged with killing Diontronet Brown on September 19 and Tahj Booker, Carlos McCain, Anitra Holloman and Roderick Patterson in Five Points South two days later, along with Jamarcus McIntyre the following day.About a month later, McDaniel was also accused of killing Markeshia Gettings, Stevie McGhee, Angela Weatherspoon and Lerandus Anderson at the Trendsetter event venue on July 13 and Charlie Brown exactly a month later in his apartment. In all, McDaniel has been accused of shooting at a total of 40 people in 2024, including the 11 murder victims. The 15-year sentence imposed by Judge Carpenter, stemming from the probation violation stemming from the 2019 attempted murder cases, goes into effect immediately.

Jefferson County Judge David Carpenter revoked probation for Damien McDaniel, who is accused of murdering 11 people in Birmingham this year.
