She said he grabbed her by the throat, threw her to the floor and choked her with his arm while covering her mouth as she screamed for help.Hart denied choking her, claiming the woman hit him several times and that he only covered her mouth to quiet her, the deposition describes. A deposition released in the Sunday arrest of Tuscaloosa Police Capt. Kermit “Kip" Hart details what led to a charge of domestic violence by strangulation and suffocation.

Deputies responded around 1:20 a.m. after receiving reports of a domestic incident involving Hart, according to the deposition. Officers found a woman at a neighbor’s house wearing only a shirt and underwear. She had red marks on her neck, but no visible bruising when deputies arrived.

The woman told deputies that the couple argued after she saw Hart deleting messages from his phone, the deposition states. She said he grabbed her by the throat, threw her to the floor and choked her with his arm while covering her mouth as she screamed for help.
