MARSHALL COUNTY, Ala. —

The director of the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) was arrested Monday morning.

John Cooper was booked into Marshall County Jail just before noon Monday and charged with harassment, according to the Marshall County Sheriff's Office; he was bonded out less than an hour later.

Cooper has served as ALDOT's director since 2011.
