Escaped prison inmate convicted of murder captured after a week on the run

An escaped inmate from a state prison who was serving a life sentence for murder is back behind bars.

The Alabama Department of Corrections (ADOC) reported inmate Jordan Thomas was recaptured at about 6 a.m. on Aug. 14 in Montgomery.

The ADOC said Thomas escaped from Staton Correctional Facility in Elmore County at about 11 a.m. on Aug. 7.

He was serving a life sentence for murder out of Montgomery County.

The ADOC stated Thomas surrendered peacefully to law enforcement officers.
