Brian McBride buried his three beloved dogs in his Birmingham yard. As hard as it's been for him, he says at this point he's worried about the friend who he says stole his SUV with the dogs inside and abandoned them in a gas station parking lot.

McBride said, “I've been worried about her ever since this happened. I mean, and you know, I can forgive her for my dogs if she's in fear for her life. I really honestly don't think that she did anything to intentionally harm my dogs.”

McBride says the woman's name is Hollie Armstrong, and on the day it happened, she came to him for help.

He said, “She came to me in fear for her life or whatever and needed just a way to safety, which, I mean, she was stuck. She'd been living with the two guys that she was scared of.”

McBride says Armstrong told him, the two men she lived with were trafficking her and she wanted to escape. So, he was taking her to a relative’s house when he got out of the SUV and she took off. He believes she was running from someone.

Surveillance video at the gas station shows she went inside and got a cordless phone from the clerk. The clerk says she called 911 twice, saying someone was chasing her with a shotgun. She even tried to hide in the store. A short time later, the video shows Birmingham police arrive and speak to her. When McBride picked up his vehicle from a tow yard days later, he says Armstrong's cellphone was still on the seat. He hasn't been able to track her down since. Now, he wants to get to the bottom of what happened to his friend and his pets.

He said, “I'm going to find justice for those dogs, whatever the cost, I mean, whatever I have to do.”

Again, McBride says the woman who took his car is Hollie Armstrong. If you know where she is, call Crime Stoppers at 205-254-7777. There is a $10,000 reward in this case.
