Fast And Furious: C8 Corvette Torn In Two In Horrific Crash

A C8 Corvette authorities say was driving at “excessively high speed” near Sonoma State University in California crashed into a tree, ripping in half. Unsurprisingly, when authorities arrived on the scene, they found the driver had passed away from his injuries. Getting a little bit of a thrill in your performance car isn’t worth your life.

Watch a guy crash his rental C8 Corvette while sending it.

While the driver didn’t survive the crash on the night of January 20, a female passenger did. However, she suffered “moderate injuries” according to The Press Democrat. She’s lucky that’s all.

Details about the crash, including the identity of the driver weren’t made available by investigators. However, we’ve seen enough similar scenarios to have a pretty good idea of what likely went down.

The driver was probably trying to impress his lady friend/wife with how fast his mid-engine sports car is. However, the guy didn’t understand that really dropping the hammer on a public road comes with big risks.

After all, small imperfections in the road, including joints that don’t entirely line up, potholes, and even debris on the pavement can cause a vehicle that’s traveling at high speeds to lose control. And when you’re going really fast, you have little time to react if your ride suddenly veers off the street.

Plus high speeds mean if your car does hit a tree, lamp post, or some other really hard object, it’s going to do a lot more damage than if you were going a more normal speed (like the posted limit).

This is why racing around on public streets all for a little thrill is a bad idea. Thankfully another car loaded with a family wasn’t hit by the C8 Corvette, but a man is dead and a woman has to deal with physical injuries as well as emotional challenges moving forward.

All that for a little thrill.
