

Donât be surprised if you spot Matthew McConaughey hanging out in The Magic City sometime this summer.
Earlier this month, Collider, Deadline and Variety reported the Oscar award winner is set to star in a new crime thriller called The Rivals of Amziah King which will be filmed in Oklahoma and Alabama.
The Details
From Variety:
âBlack Bear Pictures, which backed âI Care a Lotâ and âThe Imitation Game,â is fully financing the film. Black Bear International will launch international sales in Cannes, with WME Independent representing the U.S rights.
Andrew Patterson (âThe Vast of Nightâ) is writing and directing âThe Rivals of Amziah King.â Plot details are being kept under wraps, but a press release describes the film as a âdeeply atmospheric, character-focused crime thriller set against the unique backdrop of remote Oklahoma.â McConaughey will star in the titular role of Amziah King.
âŠBlack Bearâs Teddy Schwarzman said. âAndrew Pattersonâs visionary filmmaking and Matthew McConaugheyâs extraordinary talent are sure to deliver audiences a truly original and compelling film.â
Casting Call
The southeastern casting company Goleman Casting has already posted a casting call on social media for the movie with shoot dates between June 12 to July 31 in Birmingham.

2023 Movies Shot in Birmingham
Several movies have already been shot in Birmingham this year, including action thriller Gunner, which stars Morgan Freeman and Luke Hemsworth and the sci-fi film The Shift.
