Firefighters called to fire at vacant apartment building in Birmingham

Birmingham firefighters were called to an apartment fire Thursday morning in the College Hills area a few blocks from Legion Field. It started shortly after 9 a.m. in the vacant building at 833 First Street West. BIRMINGHAM, Ala. —

Birmingham firefighters were called to an apartment fire Thursday morning in the College Hills area a few blocks from Legion Field.

It started shortly after 9 a.m. in the vacant building at 833 First Street West. The fire was under control 20 minutes later, according to Birmingham Fire and Rescue.

They said this is not the first time there has been a fire at this location.
