Gameday forecast: comfortably warm and mainly dry
YOU’LL KNOW. FIRST, THIS IS WVTM 13 WEATHER, A BEAUTIFUL BLUE SKY OVERHEAD ON YOUR SATURDAY MORNING AS NORTHERLY WINDS CONTINUE TO PUSH DRIER AIR SOUTH. IT’S VERY COMFORTABLE TO TEMPERATURES IN THE 60S. 66 DEGREES IN BIRMINGHAM, TUSCALOOSA AT 65, YOU’VE GOT 63 IN ETOWAH COUNTY, PELL CITY, WARMING UP AT 66. IT’S THE SAME STORY DOWN THE SYLACAUGA AND ALEXANDER CITY REALLY COMFORTABLE AT THE START. AND YOUR SATURDAY IS GOING TO BE REALLY PLEASANT. WE WARM UP THROUGH THE MORNING AND THE AFTERNOON HIGHS REACHING THE MID TO UPPER 80S IN MOST SPOTS. A FEW CLOUDS DEVELOP HERE AND THERE, BUT IT’S MOSTLY SUNNY AND AGAIN WARM BUT COMFORTABLY WARM. THE DRIER AIR STAYS IN PLACE SO IT’S NOT HUMID AT ALL. SLIGHT CHANCE OF A SHOWER THIS AFTERNOON IN EAST ALABAMA. I’LL SHOW YOU THAT A LITTLE BIT LATER TODAY. HIGHS IN THE MID TO UPPER 80S SUNDAY. A SIMILAR STORY IF YOU’RE SPENDING THIS WEEKEND OUTSIDE. IF YOU’RE TAILGATING EARLY THIS MORNING OR HEADING TO BRYANT-DENNY LATER TODAY, IT’S JUST GREAT FOOTBALL WEATHER, REALLY PERFECT FOR AN EVENING OUTSIDE. SO THIS AFTERNOON, A COUPLE OF SHOWERS AND MAYBE A HANDFUL OF STORMS POSSIBLE EAST OF I-65. A DISTURBED VANCE KIND OF MOVES SOUTH FROM THE NORTH AND BRINGS SOME ENERGY THIS WAY. SO A COUPLE OF SHOWERS POSSIBLE, BUT A LIMITED CHANCE OF RAIN AGAIN, I THINK PLACES LIKE ETOWAH COUNTY, DEKALB COUNTY, ANNISTON OR OXFORD HAVE THE BEST CHANCE AT SEEING AN ISOLATED SHOWER OR STORM. NOT A PROBLEM IF YOU’RE HEADING TO BRYANT-DENNY LATER TODAY OR IF YOU’RE IN JEFFERSON COUNTY, I DON’T SEE ANY THREAT OF RAIN FOR US HERE. THOSE SHOWERS LINGER THROUGH THE NIGHT, BUT MOST PLACES, AGAIN, STAY DRY. SO WE’VE GOT THIS CONTINUOUS NORTHERLY WIND FLOW THAT’S BEEN TRADING A HUMID AIR MASS FOR SOMETHING MORE DRIER. THOSE NORTHERLY WINDS STICK WITH US THROUGH TOMORROW. BUT THEN INTO MONDAY AND TUESDAY, A SHIFT IN THE WINDS, SOMETHING WE CALL ZONAL FLOW. AND REALLY WHAT THAT MEANS IS A WESTERLY WIND FOR US HERE IN CENTRAL ALABAMA. THAT’LL BRING SOME MOISTURE INTO THE STATE AND SET THE STAGE FOR A FEW SCATTERED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS INTO WEDNESDAY OF NEXT WEEK. BUT UNTIL THEN, MAINLY DRY, VERY COMFORTABLE SEASONABLE FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR. TEMPERATURES IN THE MID 80S, OUR LOWS VERY COMFORTABLE IN THE LOW 60S WHEN THERE’S LESS MOISTURE IN THE AIR, THE TEMPERATURE CAN DROP LOWER AT NIGHT. SO THAT’S WHY WE’RE SEEING THESE COMFORTABLE MORNING LOWS. AGAIN, STORMS LIKELY BY WEDNESDAY OF NEXT
