STORMS SO YOU’LL KNOW FIRST. THIS IS WVTM 13 WEATHER. WELL, IT’S A BEAUTIFUL DAY ACROSS ALABAMA. WE’RE TAKING A LIVE LOOK NOW IN ADVANCE FROM OUR WVTM 13 LIVE DOPPLER. AND AS YOU CAN SEE PICTURE PERFECT OUT THERE. CLEAR SKIES, THE COLOR OF THE TREES ARE POPPING THIS AFTERNOON. AND TEMPERATURES IN VANCE SITTING AT 79 DEGREES. MEANWHILE, IN GADSDEN, A SIMILAR SITUATION. CLEAR SKIES. THE COOSA RIVER IS CALM. TEMPERATURES IN THE UPPER 70S AND DEW POINTS IN THE 40S. THAT MEANS IT’S WARM, BUT ALSO VERY DRY OUT THERE TOO, WHICH IS WHY WE’RE NOT GOING TO SEE ANY RAIN. NO TIME SOON AS WE MOVE THROUGH THE REST OF THIS EVENING, TEMPERATURES WILL FALL TO THE 60S. THE NEXT FEW HOURS, AND THEN WE’LL GET INTO THE UPPER 50S. BY THE TIME WE GET INTO 10:00 TONIGHT. LAST NIGHT WE SAW THE AURORA BOREALIS, AND THIS PICTURE WAS SENT IN BY TYLER YOUNG AND TRUSSVILLE. JUST BEAUTIFUL. THE STARS, THE COLORS. WE DON’T SEE THIS TOO OFTEN HERE IN ALABAMA, BUT SOME SPOTS DID SEE IT YESTERDAY. THE BIG QUESTION IS, WILL WE SEE THAT AGAIN TONIGHT OR EVEN TOMORROW? THE ANSWER TO THAT IS UNFORTUNATELY NOT. WE HAD A VERY STRONG GEOMAGNETIC STORM HAPPEN AND AS YOU CAN SEE, THIS IS THE K INDEX. AND THE HIGHER THE K INDEX IS, THE HIGHER THE CHANCES WE SEE THE NORTHERN LIGHTS. AND YESTERDAY IT WAS UP TO EIGHT, WHICH IS WHY WE WERE ABLE TO SEE IT IN SOME SPOTS ACROSS ALABAMA, AWAY FROM THOSE CITY LIGHTS. BUT FRIDAY AND SATURDAY TODAY AND TOMORROW LIKELY NOT. THE K INDEX IS JUST TOO LOW, BUT YOU COULD GO OUT AND ENJOY A HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL GAME. THE WVTM 13 GAME OF THE WEEK IS CORNER YELLOWJACKETS VERSUS THE HAYDEN WILDCATS. KICKOFF IS AT 7 P.M. SUNI. TEMPERATURES STARTING OUT IN THE UPPER 60S, BUT AFTER THE GAME, THE UPPER 50S. SO GRAB A LIGHT JACKET FOR THAT REASON ALONE AS YOU HEAD OUT THE DOOR. THIS EVENING. AS WE MOVE INTO THIS WEEKEND, THE COMFORTABLE WEATHER, THE CALM, QUIET FALL LIKE WEATHER WILL CONTINUE. 83 THE HIGH SATURDAY, 85 SUNDAY A LITTLE BIT WARMER, BUT A COOL FRONT COLD FRONT WILL MAKE ITS WAY IN AS WE MOVE INTO THE BEGINNING OF NEXT WEEK. THIS IS 7 A.M. MONDAY. THE COLD FRONT RIGHT OVER US TEMPERATURES IN THE UPPER 50S. WAKING UP IN THE MORNING NORTH OF BIRMINGHAM AND LOWER 60S SOUTH OF BIRMINGHAM AS THAT COLD FRONT MOVES THROUGH. WINDS COME IN OUT OF THE NORTHWEST. TEMPERATURES CLIMBING TO. THE ONLY. THE MID TO LOWER 70S BY TYPEKIT TO TUESDAY MORNING. WE’RE WAKING UP IN THE UPPER 40S. THAT IS COLD. AND THEN WE’RE ONLY CLIMBING TO THE UPPER SECONDS. SO A RELATIVELY COOL DAY BEFORE WE DROP EVEN LOWER. BY THE TIME WE GET INTO WEDNESDAY MORNING, AS LOW AS 40, POTENTIALLY IN COLEMAN 41, IN JASPER, 41, IN BIRMINGHAM, EVEN POTENTIALLY THE UPPER 30S FARTHER NORTH IN PLACES LIKE MUSCLE SHOALS AND HUNTSVILLE. DEFINITELY THE COOLEST WE’VE SEEN SINCE APRIL. BUT LOOKING AT THE TROPICS, THE TROPICS NOW LOOKS LIKE WE HAVE A TROPICAL WAVE COMING OFF THE WESTERN COAST OF AFRICA THAT HAS A MEDIUM CHANCE OF DEVELOPING, AND THEN WE ALSO HAVE WHAT’S LEFT OF LESLIE HERE DEVELOPING. STILL A TROPICAL STORM NOW, BUT OVERALL NO THREAT TO THE UNITED STATES WITH ANY TROPICAL DEVELOPMENT OR TROPICAL SYSTEM OVER THE NEXT SEVEN DAYS. HERE’S YOUR SEVEN DAY FORECAST HERE IN ALABAMA. LOTS OF SUNSHINE THIS WEEKEND, BOTH SATURDAY AND SUNDAY, WITH TEMPERATURES CLIMBING TO THE MID 80S. MOVING INTO THE BEGINNING OF THE WORKWEEK. GOT A COLD FRONT COMING THROUGH THAT’S GOING TO DRO
