'Grinches' tried to steal Christmas tree from Maine hotel, police say

Two men who attempted to steal a fully decorated Christmas tree from a hotel in Maine have been identified, according to police.The Rockland Police Department shared a photo of the "Grinches" and video showing Monday night's attempted theft to its Facebook page Tuesday morning.The video shows one of the men unplugging the lights from the artificial tree that was set up in the hotel's lobby. Both men then pulled the tree into a nearby elevator, but the tree came apart as they did so and the bottom section remained on the floor. That bottom section of the tree was then yanked into the elevator moments later."We don’t know why and no one quite knows the reason. It could be their head wasn’t screwed on just right? It could be, perhaps their shoes were too tight? Or their heart was two sizes too small?" police wrote on Facebook.In an update, police said that they received several tips that helped them identify both men within 25 minutes of sharing the video.Police said criminal charges are pending in the case.The identities of the men have not been shared by the Rockland Police Department.
