Heavy summer storms return to Alabama Thursday

EXCLUSIVE LIVE RADAR TRACKING STORMS. SO YOU’LL KNOW. FIRST, THIS IS WVTM 13 WEATHER AHEAD OF OUR IMPACT WEATHER FOR TOMORROW. A REALLY NICE DAY SETTING UP FOR OUR WEDNESDAY LOTS OF SUNSHINE, BLUE SKIES OVERHEAD DOWNTOWN BIRMINGHAM, TEMPERATURE BEGINNING TO WARM UP, THOUGH, NOW UP TO 87, FEELING LIKE 89 STILL RIGHT NOW. THAT HUMIDITY HELD IN CHECK, BUT IT’S GOING TO INCREASE TODAY. AND YOU’RE CERTAINLY GOING TO FEEL THE INCREASE IN MUGGINESS AS WE MOVE INTO OUR THURSDAY, FRIDAY AND CERTAINLY THIS UPCOMING WEEKEND. QUIET RIGHT NOW. WVTM 13 LIVE DOPPLER. DIFFERENT STORY THIS TIME TOMORROW AS WE’VE BEEN TRACKING SOME STORMS MOVING IN FROM THE NORTH. IT’S 84 IN COLEMAN, 83, GADSDEN, 85 DEGREES. ANNISTON, 88 ALREADY IN TUSCALOOSA, ALABASTER, 86. IN CLANTON, STORMY WEATHER SET TO ARRIVE TOMORROW, IMPACTING OUTDOOR PLANS. YOU MAY HAVE IN PLACE AFTERNOON INTO EVENING OR PERHAPS JUST GETTING HOME FROM WORK DURING THE EARLY EVENING HOURS. MORE SCATTERED STORMS IN THE FORECAST AGAIN ON FRIDAY WITH THAT BUILDING HUMIDITY. IT’S GOING TO BE A PRETTY TYPICAL SUMMER WEEKEND WITH 5050 SHOT BASICALLY EACH DAY TO SEE SOME OF THOSE WIDELY SCATTERED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS DEVELOPING IN THE AFTERNOONS. QUIET WEATHER OUT THERE FOR TODAY. A FEW PASSING HIGH LEVEL CLOUDS THAT SHOULD BE JUST ABOUT IT. CAN’T COMPLETELY RULE OUT AN ISOLATED SHOWER OR STORM IN NORTH ALABAMA, BUT THE VAST MAJORITY OF US WILL REMAIN DRY TOMORROW MORNING. WE’RE KEEPING OUR EYE UP TO THE NORTH COMPLEX OF STORMS MOVING DOWN TO THE SOUTH AND SOME OF THESE STORMS KIND OF BUILDING ONE ROUND AFTER ANOTHER COULD CAUSE THOSE RAINFALL TOTALS TO BEGIN TO PILE UP, ESPECIALLY FOR PORTIONS OF NORTHEAST ALABAMA. YOU SAW THOSE STORMS RACE DOWN TO THE SOUTH. ANY OF THE STORMS THAT DO FORM TOMORROW HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO BE STRONG, TO SEVERE. THE MAIN THREAT WOULD BE SOME DAMAGING WIND GUSTS, 40 TO 60 MILES AN HOUR, FREQUENT LIGHTNING CERTAINTY WITH THE HEAVIEST STORMS. ALSO THAT RAINFALL, A COUPLE OF INCHES POSSIBLE IN A FEW ISOLATED LOCATIONS. AND BY THE TIME WE GET TO FRIDAY, WE’LL REALLY START TO SEE THOSE RAINFALL TOTALS BUILD UP THROUGH FRIDAY. THIS IS HOW THINGS PLAY OUT IN NORTH ALABAMA. PORTIONS OF THE NORTHEAST, ALABAMA AS WELL COULD SEE 2 TO 3IN OF RAIN. OF COURSE, LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS, NOT AS MUCH AS YOU TRAVEL FARTHER DOWN TO THE SOUTH AND WEST, BUT CERTAINLY ANY ISOLATED LOCATION LIKE THIS MALL RUN SHOWS COULD SEE HIGHER AMOUNTS. AND THAT LOCALIZED FLOOD RISK, SOMETHING WE’LL MONITOR AS WE GO THROUGH BOTH THURSDAY AND FRIDAY. AGAIN TODAY, MAINLY DRY, HOT, 94 DEGREES. THE IMPACT WEATHER FOR THOSE SCATTERED STORMS TOMORROW, MORE SCATTERED STORMS FRIDAY THAN PRETTY TYPICAL SUMMER WEATHER SETTING UP THIS WEEKEND DAILY. THE CHANCE FOR A FEW STORMS, PLENTY O
