How to watch: Samford Bulldogs at Shorter Hawks Thursday
Welcome to Sanford for football media days. What *** year last year for the Bulldogs carry. It was incredible hoping to just continue that momentum going into 2020. Yeah, *** lot of attention and expectations for this team that did so much in making it *** historic year for not only the Bulldogs but for their head coach, Chris Hatcher. Coach Hatch has been coaching for quite some time since 2000. So of course, *** lot of success has been had for him from the sidelines, but *** season ago was the first time that Sanford won the outright regular season. So con title and then had *** run into the F CS quarterfinals coming off that historic year for Hatch and his Bulldogs. They're looking to turn that into some more success this year and maybe even go *** little bit further. I do think the pieces are there. We did lose really good players last season. I don't know how it's going to shake out because we have our first scrimmage tomorrow. So that, that'll answer *** lot of questions. But what I've seen thus far, I believe that we have more depth than we did last year. And *** big reason why the Sanford Bulldogs are so confident going into this year is because of their senior quarterback and star his name Michael Highers from Briarwood Christian came over here as *** transfer last season, won the starting job. All he did was win the so off player of the year. He's *** so con offensive player of the year watch list for the preseason and *** chance to win the Walter Payton award. That would be the F CS equivalent to the, he my goal is, you know, not statistics and all that is put my team in the best position to win and, you know, I have such *** such great teammates around me that I have the ability to do that. Um But, you know, you, you go back and you look at film from last year and you're like, wow, I, you know, I can be *** lot better. So there's *** lot of things to work on from last year. He's got to play within the system, not try to do too much. Um because I do think we have the pieces around him um for him to have another successful um football season. So the best part about media day is the pun passing kick contest and carry you. I did, I was going in Ryan *** little bit hot, *** little bit confident, but it worked out and with hatch on my side, I was able to sneak by with two points. But unfortunately Ryan, neither one of us got the over championship between the two of us coach. Which one do you want on your depth? No doubt. I mean, you know what I mean, Ryan has, he did last year. Came out here *** little too. You can tell he hasn't been working hard in the, you know what I mean? And didn't have that the Tiger when he came out to you. Right. You're not wrong. I'll take it on you. Right. No, you, that's all that we were talking about. So the defending champ couldn't do it again. I tried my best to bring it home for WVTM, but we shared *** lot of fun and also Ryan, it just shows how much excitement is surrounding the Stanford Bulldogs program heading into 2023. Yes, sir. We're at UAB today. We're at Sanford. So many teams trying to make *** push in the 2023 season can't wait for the season to kick off. They're taking on shorter. That is on the 31st of August Thursday night football for them and neither of us will be on the field. We promise for Kyo Brian Hennessy WVTM 13.
