Impact Day Sunday with strong storms and dangerous heat
WELL, WE’VE CERTAINLY SEEN SOME SEVERE WEATHER HERE AT HOME, BUT NOTHING LIKE THAT, THANKFULLY. BUT RIGHT NOW, THERE ARE SOME POTENTIAL STORMS IN THE AREA. NOW, ADRIAN, WHAT ARE WE LOOKING AT FOR THE REST OF THE NIGHT? YEAH, FOR THE NEXT FEW HOURS, THE FOCUS FOR SOME STORMS WILL SHIFT TO AREAS SOUTH OF I-20. IT’S BEEN A ROUGH AFTERNOON FOR SOME FOLKS IN NORTH ALABAMA, NORTHEAST ALABAMA AS WELL. IT’S GOING TO TAKE A LOOK. THERE’S A PEEK AT RADAR RIGHT NOW WHERE WE’RE SEEING THE OVERALL COVERAGE AND INTENSITY OF THE STORMS COME DOWN JUST A BIT. AGAIN, THAT SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH IS TECHNICALLY IN EFFECT UNTIL SEVEN THIS EVENING. WE DO HAVE SOME CLUSTERS OF HEAVY RAIN STILL ONGOING HOMEWOOD OR VESTAVIA HILLS, LIBERTY PARK, PRETTY GOOD THUNDERSTORM ONGOING RIGHT ALONG A 459, A TON OF HEAVY RAIN HERE MOVING OFF TO THE EAST AND TO THE SOUTHEAST. ANOTHER STRONG STORM DEVELOPING REALLY CLOSE TO HOOVER HIGH SCHOOL RIGHT NOW. AND ON THE WEST SIDE OF 65, WE SLIDE FARTHER DOWN TO THE SOUTH FROM ALABASTER TO CALERA. MORE SMALL STORMS BEGINNING TO DEVELOP. AND ANY OF THE STORMS THAT DEVELOP THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH THE EARLY EVENING HOURS, THAT POTENTIAL FOR SOME STRONG WIND GUSTS, PERHAPS AS HIGH AS 30, 40 MILES AN HOUR. AN ISOLATED SEVERE STORM IS STILL POSSIBLE. NONE OF THE STORMS OUT THERE RIGHT NOW. BY DEFINITION, ARE SEVERE, BUT CERTAINLY INTENSE IN THAT THEY HAVE A LOT OF LIGHTNING, OF COURSE, DEADLY LIGHTNING. YOU WANT TO BE INDOORS IF YOU’RE ANYWHERE CLOSE TO THESE STORMS. IF YOU CAN HEAR THE THUNDER, YOU ARE TOO CLOSE TO BE OUTSIDE. 95 DEGREES AHEAD OF THE STORMS IN CENTREVILLE, 96. IN CLANTON, RAIN COOLED AIR FOR MANY SPOTS. FARTHER TO THE NORTH, YOU FACTOR IN THAT HUMIDITY, IT CURRENTLY FEELS LIKE NEARLY 110 IN CLANTON WITH A DANGEROUS HEAT OUT THERE TODAY AHEAD OF THE STORMS. IT’S GOING TO BE THE SAME KIND OF SETUP AGAIN FOR TOMORROW WITH DANGEROUS HEAT AND HUMIDITY COMBINATION. THERE’S A LOOK AT SATELLITE AND RADAR COMPOSITE OVER THE LAST COUPLE OF HOURS. YOU CAN SEE THE FOCUS FOR STORMS HAS SHIFTED, ESPECIALLY OFF TO OUR EAST INTO GEORGIA. WE’RE SEEING SOME OF THOSE STORMS SOUTH OF I-20 NOW THAT WILL CONTINUE FOR A TIME. WE DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN TOMORROW. ANOTHER IMPACT DAY, A MARGINAL RISK FOR A FEW ISOLATED, STRONG TO SEVERE STORMS, GUSTY WINDS, SMALL HAIL, FREQUENT LIGHTNING IN THOSE STORMS OUT THERE. TOMORROW, AS WELL. SO HERE’S HOW IT PLAYS OUT THROUGH THE EVENING HOURS, THE STORM CHANCES COME TO AN END. MANY OF US DRY OVERNIGHT TONIGHT, TOMORROW MORNING SHOULD BE DRY. BUT TOMORROW AFTERNOON, AS THOSE TEMPERATURES SOAR BACK INTO THE 90S, WE’LL SEE ANOTHER ROUND OF SOME WIDELY SCATTERED POP UP SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS HEADING IN, ESPECIALLY FROM THE NORTHWEST. IMPACT WEATHER AGAIN FOR SUNDAY HEAT, HUMIDITY, SOME STORMS, ISOLATED STORMS STILL VERY HOT MONDAY, THEN SOME DRIER AIR WORKS IN BEHIND A COOL FRONT. YOU’LL REALLY NOTICE THAT IN THE EVENINGS AND IN THE MORNINGS, LOOK AT WEDNESDAY, THURSDAY MORNINGS, LOW TEMPERATURES GETTING DOWN INTO THE LOWER TO
