Passenger traffic at Alabama's largest airport continues on an upward trend.According to a news release from the Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport (BHM), 19% more air travelers used the airport in June this year than in 2022.A total of 277,103 passengers went through the airport in June as well, and BHM said the increased number comes at a time when airlines are expanding the number of non-stop flights, including LaGuardia, Detroit and Atlanta."This trend is exactly what we like to see at BHM," said Darlene Wilson, Chair of the Birmingham Airport Authority. "The more we use the service that is currently offered by the airlines, the greater our chances of getting more service in the future," said Wilson.BHM mentioned the June 2023 passenger traffic was higher than numbers in June 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic.
