Infant and toddler among 5 injured in deadly Cherokee County crash
A man was killed in a wreck that also injured an infant, toddler, teen and two adults Wednesday evening in Cherokee County.The crash happened before 5:30 p.m. on Highway 35 about three miles north of Gaylesville.Gerone L. Evans, 58, of Summerville, Ga. was driving a 1994 Nissan pickup when it was struck by a 2023 Nissan Altima, according to state troopers. Evans was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected when the truck left the road and overturned. He was taken to Floyd Medical Center in Rome, Ga. with critical injuries, but died at the hospital.The driver of the Altima and her passengers, all from Tenn., were injured. They included a 1-year-old, a 3-month-old, a teen and two adults.
