MONTGOMERY, Ala. —

A former Kilby correctional officer is now on the other side of the bars.

According to the Alabama Department of Corrections Law Enforcement Services Division, Charlie Townsend was arrested Saturday, June 10, after confessing to bringing contraband items to an inmate; he resigned soon after.

Townend is being charged with trafficking methamphetamine, use of position for personal gain, and promoting prison contraband II.
