The iconic Southern rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd recently announced the cancellation of four upcoming tour dates due to an “emergency family illness” for lead singer Johnny Van Zant.

The initial announcement on Facebook stated that Van Zant left the tour to be with his family as they continued to test, diagnose and treat his daughter’s sudden illness.

The “Sweet Home Alabama” group eventually posted a video of Van Zant on their Facebook page to explain what happened to his daughter in more detail.

“A couple of days ago, Taylor started having numbing feeling on her right side. She went to the emergency room, they did a CT scan and they found, the only way to say it is a mass on her brain and some of it was bleeding, that was causing the numbing part,” Van Zant said.

“And saying this, we’ve had her with a great neurology team and doctors and a group of doctors and they don’t think it’s the C-word, so that’s a good thing, but they’re still doing a lot of testing and we’re not out of the woods yet, but we’re in a lot better position than we thought we were in the beginning.”

“PRAY PRAY PRAY. I thank you all very much. We aren’t going to let the d man get us down!” the caption on Van Zant’s Facebook video read.

The tour dates canceled include West Valley, Utah, Loveland, Colo., Colorado Springs, Colo., and Albuquerque, N.M. Ticket holders for these shows are expected to receive a refund.
