What Adam Brody Told Wife Leighton Meester in Critics Choice Speech

Nobody will want to miss Leighton Meester’s onscreen reunion with husband Adam Brody.

The Gossip Girl alum is set to appear in the upcoming second season of Netflix’s Nobody Wants This as the middle school nemesis of Adam’s onscreen love interest Kristen Bell, the streaming service announced in a post on X (formerly Twitter) Feb. 20.

The casting marks the latest professional collaboration between Leighton, 38, and Adam, 45, who married in 2014 and share two children. The couple previously appeared together in projects like The OrangesSingle Parents and River Wild, and the O.C. actor told E! News in January that he and his wife “always like to work together when it comes up.”

It’s also not the first time Leighton and Kristen have worked together. After the “Somebody to Love” singer appeared on Veronica Mars in a guest role in 2005, Kristen served as the narrator on Gossip Girl throughout its five-season run.

The first season success of Nobody Wants This has earned Adam considerable praise for his performance as Noah—also known as the “hot rabbi”—including a Critics Choice Award for Best Actor in a Comedy Series earlier this month, which Leighton couldn’t have been more thrilled about.

“I'm just so, so proud of him and think he deserves everything,” she exclusively told E! News correspondent Will Marfuggi in an interview airing Feb. 20 at 11 p.m. “I think the world of him.”

In fact, the actress—whose comedy Good Cop/Bad Cop airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET/ 6 p.m. PT. on The CW—offered one specific reason he was a perfect fit for the role.

“He is able to embody that because he's hot, OK? I said it,” she joked. “And also because he's truly a wonderful person who was able to bring so much humor and humanity to that role and really make that character and bring a bit of himself to it.”
