RIGHT SIDEBAR TOP AD

The Crimson Tide is taken down 19-13 in a second straight bowl game loss to Michigan

I'd like to start off by welcoming uh Coach De Boer and and Coach Moore and uh ask them to each open with *** brief opening statement and we're gonna open up to uh questions uh from the media and at the end we have *** special presentation we're gonna make uh to *** player from each of the teams so uh uh as the home team. Uh, coach Moore, if you'd like to start us off with *** brief opening statement, and then we'll go from there. Yeah, just want to thank everybody for being here. Uh, we've had *** great time this week. Uh, looked at it as *** business trip and our guys are really taking hold of that and had *** great week of prep. Really excited about the game with *** great opponent. I've known Kalyn for *** very long time. We talked about our days when we were in the Mac, uh, you know, going around Chicago and I was at Central and he was at Eastern and I've always had *** lot of respect for him and how he runs his program and what he's done and obviously we faced last year in the national championship and uh just tremendous respect for him and how he's built programs and his winning traditions and, uh, but really excited, really excited for this game. Our players are excited. um it's gonna be *** great challenge with *** great team, great opponent, so, um, ready to kick this thing off. Coach, yeah, it's, uh, been *** good, uh, few days down here. Uh, just appreciate everyone in the Tampa area. Go over to Clearwater yesterday and, uh, just all the activities, events that our players have been able to be *** part of, uh, the fans as well, and, uh, just nothing but great hospitality. So appreciate Rely Quest, uh, with, uh. Sponsorship and, uh, just, uh, you know, everyone down here for, for greeting us, uh, from the time we got here until I know the time we leave. So, um, as coach said, uh, we've known each other for *** while and, uh, you know, not *** lot of respect for he, uh, knows some of the staff and, uh. Also just the, the program, uh, there at Michigan in general. And so, uh, looking forward to *** great game. Our guys really proud of the way that they've gone about their, their, their work, um, going back not just this week, but all the way through the month, uh, just, you know, always looking for opportunities to continue to get better, uh, individually, collectively as *** team and, uh, ready to go out and play tomorrow, you know, and, uh, again, great weather down here in Tampa, uh, looking forward to an exciting, uh, exciting game and, um, you know, be our best. Terrific. All right, we're gonna open the questions, uh, Leo, uh, we'll go with you first. We're gonna try and get *** mic, uh, to folks to make sure that the, uh, both coaches picks up on the, on the, uh, transcript. So for both coaches and coach De Boer first, there's *** plethora of sports movies being made today if they decide to make *** movie that you're in. What actor do you want to see play you now Coach Debora I'm thinking Jeff Daniels, not the Dumb and Dumber Jeff Daniels, but the one who's, you know, now in newsroom and Coach Moore, Cuba Gooding Junior, that's it, that's *** dead give away. What what do you guys think? Well, I think you said it, so um. Yeah, just I, I appreciate the added piece on there with not the Dumb and Dumber part. So, uh, I think thanks for that, uh, but yeah, I don't know. I, I haven't thought that far down the road. uh, I think probably just like coach, we're just trying to take one day at *** time, uh, leading our programs right now, you know, and, uh, you know, taking care of our guys. So, um, you know, loves, love *** good sports movie though, that's for sure. Yeah, I haven't really thought about that. Uh, if I had to put some deep thought, the first person that comes to my mind in any movie would be Denzel Washington because he's an absolute animal in every movie he's in, so, but, uh, just, just really excited for this game. OK. Here we go, right, right back here, 2nd row. That's the answer. Hey Kaitlyn, um, curious, uh, we've seen *** lot of Jan Bachwe at wide receiver over the past few days. I'm curious, uh, what you've seen from him in practice, but also is, is, is it *** permanent move to wide receiver? Is he gonna play both ways for you guys? What, what do you expect out of her? Yeah, you know, for this game, uh, and I think right now where it's transitioning to, uh, just with the opportunities there at that position, I, I think it's, you know, something that, uh, based on what we've seen here through the first couple, I guess almost 2 weeks now. Uh, of him taking reps, uh, he's certainly got the skill set and, uh, really excited about what he could do for us there at that position. Um, you know, he's got the speed. He's he's had the ball in his hands, you know, all through high school, uh, you know, running the offense there at that level. And then, You know, we've used him, uh, you know, in the punt return game, um, in the return games, uh, and so, um, you know, we're just really comfortable with, uh, what he can bring to the table. Now it's just learning the position, learning the offense. So I think you'll see us continue to move in this direction with him. Um, he's really been focused on the offensive side, really all of, uh, our bull prep, um, you know, and it was natural, number one, because of numbers, but #2, just because I think of what he can do, you know, from as *** football player, uh, and. You know, not all guys, uh, just naturally move into that role, but he's, uh, provided ***, *** really good amount of, uh, confidence in us and I think his teammates, uh, in this transition here already. OK, we got Mike coming right over here. There you go for good we just in, in the landscape we're in college football with players opting out for bowl games when half of the games *** player, what does it say about your leaders that they came out right away and most of the captains on the team are playing besides injury with Malachi? What does that say about your group? did you meet with them or was that just kind of assumed? We did have ***, *** big meeting, um, but I think the leaders, as you mentioned, I think that's always the key is what's your leadership and, uh, the leaders, uh, just understanding, you know, the precedent that's been set here in this program when it comes to, uh, Bowl games, opting out, and, uh, just, you know, um, kind of setting the tone on how important every opportunity when you get to put the crimson on is. And, uh, these guys get that one last chance here this year. And, uh, you know, the, you know, guys like, I mean, I could go on and on, but guys like Tyler Booker, you know, really stepping up and, um, Milro as well, and, and others just. You know, really saying, hey, you know, we get one more chance as *** brotherhood, you know, to go, um, on that football field together. Um, we get *** chance to be better as football players and, uh, we wanna set the program off, uh, in, in the continuing in the right direction, uh, going into next year and, uh, leave it, leave it at the best possible place that we can. And so, um, they've poured everything into it, all these guys and, uh, just couldn't be, couldn't be more proud of the mindset. Uh, and how that's trickled throughout the team, uh, and really led us to having some really good practices here all the way through, uh, the bull practice here, uh, even today. OK, right here, raise your hand so that he can find you. Thank you. Hey Kaitlyn, do you have an update on Kate and Proctor's status for for tomorrow? Yeah, we're we're expecting him to play. Yeah. right down here in the front. Uh, for Coach Deboer, uh, with all the portal activity in December, obviously your roster right now looks *** lot more like it will look in spring practice than it did for any regular season game. Does that make the tape from this bowl game more valuable as *** self-evaluation tool ahead of spring practice than than what you would get in the fall? From this past fall, or, um, yeah, I think every guy it's ***, it's an opportunity, right? There's more, there's some opportunities that, uh, some new faces are gonna get. Maybe, maybe they've had roles, but their roles are, are, uh, you know, uh, upticked *** little bit, you know, just as far as the reps they may get, uh, might be special teams, might be offense, defense. So, uh, I think, you know, this game, the whole purpose though is still go out here and go find *** way to win, you know, and so that's the. That's the priority and uh along with it just because there is movement as you mentioned with the portal uh new guys are getting uh upgraded roles uh more opportunities and uh you know they're looking forward to taking advantage of it and again I think as you're kind of alluding to it does help you uh kind of move forward into you know spring practice which would just be right around the corner here uh before you know it. Um, right down here in front. Yeah, Cale, uh, chance to get 10 wins with this game. What, what have you communicated and what have people told you about what that would mean for that streak with this program? Yeah, it's ***, it's, uh, something that's really important to the guys. Uh, there's no question, uh, you know, they want to keep, uh, the streak alive there with, uh, 10 win seasons and, um, you know, we always talk in terms of really trying to even simplify it down, uh. Beyond that, and just the most important game is the next one just like the next play is the most important one and so you know that's, that's where we're focused, uh, but there is ***, *** piece too with the tradition and just everything, uh, you know, uh, you don't do it to put added pressure on yourself. You just make the game what it is and then this is uh an important game because it's the one that's in front of us. But, um, you know, our players, uh, you know, finding those motivational pieces, um, that is certainly one of them. OK, in the backyard. Coach Moore, uh, can you talk about the offensive line and who you expect to play tackle in this game? And then there are reports that Juan Castillo might be joining your program again. Can you talk *** little bit about that? Yeah, um, really excited about the guys that are gonna play in the game. Uh, you know, Evan Link obviously been there, uh, moving over to the left, uh, Andrew Sprague, you know, getting *** start. I feel really confident about him. He's *** guy that's super talented. Uh, that we've, you know, we've moved in the game *** little bit and played and uh, and the guys that have played inside are the same guys. So super excited for them, super excited for the opportunity that they have and, uh, yeah, Coach Castillo has been *** guy I've known for *** long time, obviously been here and been back, so, uh, he'll be back helping. Yeah, I mean, just ***, *** veteran guy that's been in the NFL that's been in college and, um, you know, groomed really high quality offensive linemen. Obviously that's an important, you know, position for me, so I want guys that I feel that can help that position as much as possible and I feel like he can bring *** lot to the table. Question for Coach De Boer you mentioned the leadership and the brotherhood going into this game. Is that what you might be most proud of when you look at this group, the 2024 season in the larger context? Yeah, I think that's uh. That's something I know, um, I feel going back to January, um, has certainly been, um, just *** stabilizing force for our team. Uh, you know, there's, there's so much that was happening. I can sit here and talk all, all day just about this particular area and how important it's been and how proud I am, um, because there were some guys that, uh, pretty much put their foot down and said, you know, we're, this is the place that we believe in. Um, they believed in themselves, uh, they chose to stay. And, um, you know, the ups and downs that came with our season, um, they just were steady through it. And, uh, understood that, uh, you know, the task, uh, you know, wasn't going to be easy. anytime there's, you know, you're *** program that's on top, it's hard enough just to, to stay on top when the continuity is all there, um, but they took on that challenge and I couldn't be. Again, more proud of just the way they, they've stuck together, uh, whether it's, you know, the upperclassmen or whether it's sides of the ball, um, you know, that includes our staff as well. Uh, just the way they've continued to stay the course and look at every day as an opportunity for us to grow. Our program, uh, continue to build our foundation, um, but yeah, that, that, that brotherhood, um, that, that family environment that, uh, we really feel strong about, um, you know, it's carried us through *** lot, including this last month, uh, just again with the, you know, the, the highs and lows of what's come our way. Right down the front here. For Kaylyn, this isn't any player specific, but just in general, what have your conversations been like with guys who are considering the NFL and maybe how's your advice to them changed over the last couple of years when they can now come back to school and make money with an I? Yeah, yeah, um, *** lot of this has been going on, especially the last month, uh, just, you know, position coaches, um, coordinators, uh, just as much information as we can always give these guys, uh, we want, we want to help them make the best decision that they can. Um, that's the priority, uh, and, um, yeah, those conversations continue to happen now. I think *** lot of the guys have *** good feel of, uh, where they're leaning, um, but, you know, there's still some, some decisions that need to be made and, uh, you know, we're here for them. I think they understand that and, um, you know, of course, our program moving forward is probably better with them if they stay, but that's, that's for each guy to, to make his choice and. Um, you know, we're, we're, uh, we're gonna help them through it and, and the best we can, and I think most of them here sooner than later will, uh, you know, have that final decision made, but the conversations do, as you mentioned, uh, they certainly are different now than they maybe were, you know, 345 years ago as far as what the opportunities and why you might stay, um, compared to what it was before NIL, uh, and so forth. Right down here in front. Coach Moore, now that now that Mikey Keen has signed and you, you can comment on him, what made him you guys targeted in the portal and how do you expect he'll factor into *** quarterback competition in the spring? Yeah, I mean, an experienced guy that's played *** lot of football, uh, really excited about him, you know, we played him in the first game, so we know how tough he is. We know the type of throws he can make, uh, you know, I just heard great things, impeccable things about him as *** leader, and I really excited him to push that, push that room and, uh, you know, give us an experienced guy that we feel that can go win his games, and that was the most important piece of it. stay in the front here, Coach Moore now that you've had basically *** month full of preparation for this game, who, who do you feel has made the most of their experiences terms of practice and who do you feel like is really taken their game to the next step? Yeah, I mean you just look at everybody in on the team. I don't think there's *** position group that, you know, over. That's overachieved or overseeded, uh, all those guys have really taken the opportunity to get better, you know, you look at, you know, from the O line to the D line to the DBs, quarterback, running backs, and all those, all those different positions. Everybody's taking the chance to get better and they've really invested the time, uh, that they, that they've had to, to get better and really excited about it, you know, the young players that are gonna get to play in the game, uh, the older guys that are playing in the game, so you know, they're, they're just ready to strap it off for Michigan. And Sean, uh, your impressions of Jordan Marshall during practice and, uh, second question on Evan, I mean, he took some heat this season. How do you think he progressed later on in the season and, and how confident are you at left tackle with him? Yeah, I mean, he, you know, first Jordan Marshall, he's *** young kid, he's dynamic, you know, we really felt really good about him throughout the year, um, he had, had *** couple of bumps and bruises and, uh, was limited *** little bit and is at full strength now. He's got *** chance to be *** really special player. So really excited about him. And then, uh, Evan's been great, you know, Evan actually that's, he switched, you know, in, in fall camp from *** position where he actually was at, and, you know, he's in *** really good job, uh, really excited about him, you know, he had really last, you know, last two games played exceptional, um, played really good in, in, in the last game of the year, and he's just had *** really good week of prep or month of prep and, uh, excited for him and what he's gonna do. Over here on the left. Sharon, when you bring in *** transfer quarterback, what's the message to him about the potential starting and and getting in the games? Yeah, it's open competition. Nobody's promised *** starting spot. Everybody's got to earn it and uh he, he really understands that even with the guys we've brought in. So he's really excited to push the, the whole room, and he's *** guy that's played *** lot of football that has *** lot of experience and. And made plays at all different levels and uh you know his fami familiar with uh Chip Lindsey was really huge uh they had *** connection previously so that helped but you know just all the reviews that we got from him as as *** person, as *** player, and then it was huge that we played him this year, you know, we saw him live in action, we saw him make some really good throws and and do some really things dynamic, so, uh, really ready for him to get going in this program. Over here on the right. Hey, Coach Deboer, final game in your first year as Alabama's head football coach. What does *** win mean to you? Well yeah I mean you, you want to win them all, right? And um I mean that's ***, that's *** given, uh, but I think just finishing this year off uh with *** positive would be would be big for just the, the direction, um, you know, for this team to, to kind of put an end to it, uh. But also to help us, uh, just moving forward, you know, in the trajectory and I think that's what bowl games are in general. But, uh, yeah, certainly, you know, after finishing up the first year, it's been ***, ***, *** whirlwind of 11 months, you know, uh, but, uh, like where we're at, uh, with the mindset, uh, like where we're at with how things are coming together, um, you know, and looking forward to taking those next steps and I think this bowl game, uh, could certainly help in that, uh, in moving forward. We got right down uh right down here. Yeah. 00 Joey, OK, sorry, yeah, Kaylyn, just for double clarity, um, Jalen and all your draft eligible guys, this is their game they're expected to play the whole game and go the distance if they can, correct? Yeah, there's been no conversations or anything, you know, well, I guess I'd be pretty surprised. I think they're here to win, uh, to to compete to. To, to put the best product, uh, that we can put out there on the football field, uh, for 4 quarters and, and go out there and, um, you know, so I wouldn't expect something like that, but, uh. You know, just, uh, that's the way these guys are, you know, uh, you know, Jalen Milro, as you alluded to, and the other guys, uh, they're gonna go out there just like they always have been and you can give everything they have and they've shown that in practice. So I don't know, I wouldn't expect anything different. Right here on the aisle, yeah, yeah, Sharon, good morning. Uh, last year you guys were playing in, in the Rose Bowl in the national championship so late. I know there were the thought that that sort of hindered things within the portal and the way there was gonna be development, right? I guess. This year how much left do you guys have to to do in the portal and how, how, what's your balance been like preparing for obviously another important game here but still obviously you've been successfully attacking that as well. Yeah, I think there's always gonna be that balance, um, you know, with, with the, with the calendar, how it is, regardless if you're in the playoff, you're in *** bowl game, big time bowl game like this one, then you're gonna have to have some balance, you know, with the recruiting piece. The recruiting piece never stops, you know, it's 365, um, even when it's *** dead period, you know, people are still calling you texting you. Um, so it, it never stops. So for us it's just been ***, *** continuing emphasis emphasis on what we have to do and the, and the guys we have to get, you know, there's still *** few positions we we need to get and we want to get, but, uh, ultimately they gotta be the best fit, best fit for the program, but, um, the main thing right now is trying to go win this game. Huh? It's *** mix of different positions for sure. I always want the best guys up front. Leo. For both coaches and coach Moore first, when you're looking at film of the opposition. Offense defense is there anything similar to teams you played when you look at Alabama or when you look at at Michigan? I mean, for us, uh, you, you start on offense and, and Jalen's special uh, he's not like any quarterback we've played or the ability that he has to impact the game with his legs. um, you know, they've got great playmakers on the outside, *** big offensive line, so. It's just *** different, it's *** different animal. It's *** different, you know, group and, uh, defensively, again, NFL players everywhere. So, uh, you know, we played some really good teams all year. We played Oregon, we played Texas, we played Ohio State, so, um, similar to those guys and and the guys that we played at the top competition that we played all year. Yeah, I, I think, uh, the last part too, uh, would certainly apply, you know, take the most physical teams that we played all season. um, and that's what you're gonna look at when you're, you're, uh, getting ready for the game tomorrow is, uh, both sides of the ball. uh, you know, when it comes to Michigan, just being physical upfront, uh, that's across the board, not even just up front and, uh, just the style of play, um, the, The mindset that, uh, they have, uh, spreads not just from the front, not just in the front, but, uh, all the way through the, the back half, uh, and the skill positions as well and just how hard they play, how physical they are. And so take the teams that you've played, um, each side of the ball maybe is faced different, uh, challenges, uh, from our end, uh, throughout the year, but, um, these guys, you know, certainly present that, um, you know, at the highest level when it comes to the physicality. And so, um, you know, they've shown. Style of play that I think, uh, you know, um, going back to this, the last game here, um, with the, with the, with *** nice win, um, against *** playoff team, you know, that, uh, um, you know, understand that, uh, there's ***, there's *** style of play that you got to be ready for, I think, and, and knowing that, uh, what they can do to win their, win their football game. And so, uh, we got to counter that. OK, right here 2nd row. Hey Kaitlyn, do you have, um, uh, an update on, uh, Justin Jefferson's eligibility like *** definitive, like if he's coming back next year? Yeah, I think, uh, I mean, I'll let him make the decision or not the decision, the announcements, uh, but, uh, I know he was pretty excited to hear about the, the opportunity and so, uh, if that can give you an indication of kind of where I think his head's at, uh. Um, again, we've had the talks and pretty confident that, uh, he's, uh, excited to continue to play college football, but, uh, you know, nothing official, uh, has been said, but, uh, that was certainly *** big, big announcement there, uh, right around Christmas, uh, *** good Christmas present for him, *** good Christmas present for us for sure. Towards the end. Front row. This is for both coaches. Coach Moore first, uh, you guys had *** connection in the portal this offseason with uh Damon Payne and Justice Haynes. Can you coach Moore first talk about what you saw from them on film and then coach the board talk about what you saw from them obviously on the field coaching them this season. Yeah, I mean, uh, you know, both those, you know, those guys aren't, you know, I can't really comment on those guys right now, um, so, you know, just go from there. Both, you know, great players at Alabama and uh I can't really comment on those guys right now. Tough question. All the way. Well, I'm just gonna say this, uh, you know, I think I'm always gonna wish the guys that are in our program the best, and those are two really good solid young men and, um, always gonna wish them the best and I hear the word fit coming from Coach Morris. Conversate or talk here and, um, you know, that's what you always hope is that, uh, the college experience for anyone that you get to coach, you want it to be in your program, you want it to be *** lead in your program, but ultimately this time comes and goes really fast and so I'm always gonna wish the guys the best that, uh, we're part of, uh, you know, the year that, uh, we had here or any time I've coached, you know, throughout my career. All the way in the back there? Sharon Max Bredison, *** cornerstone on the offensive captain, he's here. He said he hasn't made *** decision about his future, but can you just speak on the impact his leadership and his play on the field have had in practices so far? Yeah, I mean, he's the ultimate competitor, ultimate leader, uh, everything you want in *** captain and *** guy you want on your team, uh, as physical as *** player in college football, I would say, and. Uh, he's everything you want, uh, from, from, from *** leader on your team, so he's, he impacts our team not just on the field but off the field in huge ways and making sure the locker room is, is aligned in every single way and, uh, you know, I just can't speak highly enough about that man, about that young man, and, uh, just excited for his future and, and making his determination whatever he does. Are you back on the uh TV stand there? Hi, back here, uh, Eileen Natchik, uh, News Channel 8 here in Tampa Bay question for both of you guys just what has your experience been like here in Tampa? What kind of bonding things have you been doing and just what do you want your guys to get out of this experience? Yeah, I, I think you know, just you, you, you know, it's ***, it's *** setting where there's, you know, some time for them, the guys don't have to worry about classes they don't have to worry about these other things. It's just, uh, enjoying, uh, each other, enjoying the moments that, uh, we have, um, you know, there's been different activities, uh, events, uh, hosted by the bowl that I know they've, uh, enjoyed and, um, you know, the practices and. All that, uh, you know, that's, this is what these guys love to do and being able to just focus on football and then when you have the free time, focus on, uh, the relationships and the friendships that we have, um, you know, and we're *** smaller group now, you know, and, uh, just with some guys maybe that aren't with us that, uh, are, are not with *** team. And so, you know, I think, uh, these guys are really, you know, taking advantage of continuing to build and, um, the ones that are maybe spending their last days in the program, we've really. Always tried to highlight them and celebrate, uh, what they've brought to this program and, and what this last game means to them and every practice, uh, being the last one potentially, uh, in this last moment here in that last moment there tonight will be the last team meeting as we'll ever have as, uh, as this football team. And so it's just, uh, I think, you know, cherishing those moments that come along, you know, with these type of, uh, with these type of situations. Yeah, it's been an awesome experience, you know, the, the bowl games has provided *** great opportunity for our players to just, you know, sit back sometimes and get some time off their feet and relax but also get some time and do different things as *** team, you know, going to Busch Gardens, guys riding roller coasters, doing different things, uh, feeding giraffes and animals, um, you know, they really, they really honed into that and really loved that and spending time with each other, you know, when there, when there isn't football around, but you know, when there's time to. You know, do football, they're really excited about that and just like Kaylen said, not having class at the same time they can really study the game, uh, even deeper and those guys love to do that. They love to embrace the opportunity to get better, especially with film study and, uh, you know, just time when you, when you get *** team meal and you guys are sitting down and just talking and just, you know, talking about nothing, talking about random things and talking about life, I think it's cool to get that opportunity as *** coach, but also our assistant coaches to be able to sit down with their players and just have that time and not have those time rest. of different things that they can do. So, uh, it's been *** great opportunity for our players and our staff to get out here and enjoy this and obviously coming from Michigan, we left the day before we left, it was like 19 degrees, so, uh, 66 and 70 feels really good to us so we love this weather's been great for us and uh just continue to embrace these moments with our players. Just *** couple more questions in the back here. Yeah, for Sharon and Steve Casula alluded to this earlier this week that Michigan's offense is always going to be Michigan's offense, but what you do specifically is always gonna be. Dictated by specific personnel with so many new faces in the mix, whether it's Steve or you know Chip Lindsey popping in here and there different players, does that allow you to do anything *** little bit different this week maybe *** more individualized approach that sets you up for maybe something *** little different or more success this week or maybe later on down the line that can be beneficial. Yeah, I think the best thing about, you know, offense is just, you know, if you wanna have *** really good offense, you gotta tell *** story and what you do and how you do it. And um you gotta get the best players of all and the best players involved and and do the things that our players are really good at. So at the end of the day that's what we're gonna try to do this week in this game and um not try to be too crazy and be out of the box, but we'll have specific things that we have for the game and you know when you're attacking this defense, this defense is difficult to deal with and you gotta have *** plan for different things that that they do and um for us it's gonna be about getting the best players of football and making sure that they can impact the game and uh you know, controlling the clock. One last question here, Leo. For both coaches and coach to bore you first, you were both in the college football playoff last year. If you can't be in it, is there *** better place to tee it up than Tampa, Florida on New Year's Eve at the Reliuest Bowl? Talking about the movies we're gonna be in someday too. Yeah. No, it's, it's been *** great, uh, you know, we're excited to, to be here when, um, you know, we found out we got the opportunity and, uh, it's lived up to everything that I'd hoped. Yeah, it's been *** great experience for for us, the staff, the players, and, um, we wanna be any place besides the playoff. um, it's been *** great opportunity for us as, as players, staff, to continue to bond and, and, and build that camaraderie and to get better and to feel really good about it and just excited for the game. All right, thank you, coaches. We're uh gonna, now I'm gonna introduce the founder and CEO of our title sponsor ReliQuest, which, uh, international headquarters is here in Tampa, and he's gonna come up and make *** special presentation to two very special players.

End of the season

It’s not an easy task to follow Nick Saban or Jim Harbaugh, and the ReliaQuest Bowl is not where the Crimson Tide and Wolverines hoped to wind up when the season began.

Despite losing three times and failing to get to the Southeastern Conference championship game, Alabama (9-3) was disappointed to be left out of the expanded 12-team CFP field.

Michigan (7-5) finished seventh in the Big Ten, but enters the ReliaQuest Bowl on a high note after defeating archrival and CFP participant Ohio State.

Still, Kalen DeBoer and Sherrone Moore say it’s good to be in warm weather Florida with an opportunity to finish a year filled with challenges.
