The state board that oversees Louisiana’s two-year colleges will get two new members, according to a press release from Gov. John Bel Edwards released Thursday.

Edwards appointed Joseph Hollins and Matthew J. Wood to the Louisiana Community and Technical Colleges Board of Supervisors. Each will serve a six-year term.

Hollins is executive director of the Louisiana Offshore Terminal Authority in the state Department of Transportation and Development. He previously worked as a special assistant to Edwards.

Wood is secretary and treasurer of the Louisiana AFL-CIO and has also worked for the Communications Workers of America. He served on a state commission aimed at expanding broadband access.

Both new members of the board will fill at-large seats vacated by Baton Rouge attorney Timothy Hardy and Bernhard Capital Partners executive Rhoman Hardy.

Edwards also announced he had reappointed three current members of the board to additional terms.

Tari Bradford previously worked for Sens. Mary Landrieu and J. Bennett Johnston and joined the board in 2017. Alterman “Chip” Jackson is a retired higher education administrator who worked at Baton Rouge Community College and the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. He was also first appointed to the board in 2017.

Michael “Mickey” Murphy is the former dean of the Louisiana Technical College’s Sullivan campus in Bogalusa and was named to the board in 2007.
