A Louisiana restaurant looking to expand across the Southeast is planning to open a Birmingham location later in 2023.

Kolache Kitchen currently has restaurants in Baton Rouge, New Orleans and Key West.

Founded in 2013 near the LSU campus, Kolache Kitchen serves classic and specialty kolaches, boudin, breakfast tacos, sandwiches, empanadas and other treats.

Founder Will Edwards, a native of Texas, told the Greater Baton Rouge Business Report that the chain currently has seven locations. He opened the eatery only two years after completing classes at LSU.

Edwards is looking in other markets for franchise partners with past experience operating restaurants, preferably in managing multiple units.

“One thing I’ve noticed, people will call and inquire, but it takes a lot to see people who are really serious,” Edwards told the outlet.
