Louisiana Tech president to retire at end of year

Louisiana Tech University President Les Guice announced Tuesday he will retire at the end of 2023.

Guice has worked at the Ruston university for 45 years, serving as its president for the past decade.

“I have been blessed to be a part of an incredibly dedicated faculty, staff and administration at Louisiana Tech for the past 45 years,” Guice said in a press release. “I have been most gratified to be a part of this team that puts the success of our students as the top priority. It becomes more evident each day that our students are seeing great value in their education at Tech, and they are spreading that word back home.”

Guice is the third president in the University of Louisiana System to step down this year. Southeastern President John Crain announced his retirement in January, and University of New Orleans President John Nicklow resigned to take the same job at the Florida Institute of Technology in March. Crain was replaced by William Wainwright, and Nicklow’s replacement will be announced Thursday.

University of Louisiana System President Jim Henderson told the Illuminator an announcement on a search committee for Louisiana Tech’s next president would follow shortly after the announcement of UNO’s new president.
